Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use the website, you accept these privacy practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search box is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its own results. We do not keep a separate site log of the search terms submitted through those boxes.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or contact submission may be retained long enough to answer and manage the message. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers receive routine technical details when a page loads, including:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • The referring website, when one is available
  • Browser name and version
  • Device category and operating system
  • Pages viewed, view times, and visit duration
  • The date and time of each request

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small device files that help measure how the website is used. Analytics providers combine traffic information so we can see common entry pages, popular content, and where visits end. You may block cookies through browser settings, although doing so can change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Operating, securing, and improving site performance
  • Routing a submitted search to the provider behind the tool
  • Diagnosing errors and other technical problems
  • Measuring which resources visitors use most
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

We do not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. St. Francois County guidance points readers to the sheriff, the 24th Judicial Circuit and municipal courts, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. Those government custodians hold the records. Visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a third-party criminal-history profile, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the embedded search tools. Their privacy policies, retention terms, and sharing rules govern information entered there. We do not set those practices. Review the provider’s terms before sending a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the St. Francois County sheriff, Missouri courts, MSHP, MODOC, registry services, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once you leave, the destination’s privacy policy controls. Read it before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may also measure activity across sites to select ads. That process occurs through their systems and policies.

Who Might See Your Data

Personal information is not sold. It may be disclosed to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving content on the pages
  • A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security controls are used to protect collected data. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a minor’s information was submitted, a deletion request may be made through the contact route.

Your Data Rights

Rights can vary by residence and applicable law. Missouri’s Sunshine Law concerns access to government records, including records held by St. Francois County, and does not make this private website the custodian of those files. For personal data held directly by us, you may:

  • Request access to personal information kept about you
  • Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
  • Request deletion where the law allows it
  • Object to certain processing where that right applies

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised as services or legal duties change. The updated text and effective date will appear here when a revision takes effect.
